About me

How I work

"I truly believe that counselling and coaching are life changing. I see evidence of this in my work daily as my clients connect with their true potential, which is a huge privilege. I can't imagine anything better than seeing people change and grow in a positive way."

I am a qualified, BACP Registered Counsellor offering counselling and coaching for emotional health, personal development and recovery. I work to high professional standards, providing complete confidentiality and privacy for my clients. My approach is caring, non-judgemental and focussed on empowering you to develop greater resilience and problem-solving strategies. I offer appointments at Cargo Fleet Business Centre, near Middlesbrough and at Saltburn Wellbeing Centre. I can also offer sessions via secure video link or by telephone if this helps you to access the support that you need.

In the initial assessment we will gain an understanding of the difficulties you are facing, then we will plan and prioritise our work together so that it is of greatest benefit to you. I am happy to work with you for just a few sessions, or you may wish to explore issues in more depth over an extended period of time.

I work as an Integrative Counsellor which means that I draw upon different therapeutic models according to your individual needs, including Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and my approach is underpinned by Humanistic, Person-Centred principles.

My background

Prior to establishing myself as a Counsellor and Coach I spent many years in management roles, in public, private and charitable sector organisations. I decided to re-train as a Counsellor, having seen the difference that working one to one with people can make, and since then I have worked for various counselling organisations. In 2018, I decided to fulfil my ambition to set up my own private practice, brining in my past experience of management and leadership to incorporate coaching into my work. I can now offer the type of service that I feel is most beneficial for my clients - personal, tailored and respecting privacy.

I work holistically, emphasising the importance of self-care in supporting emotional health, and I offer ‘Walking talking therapy’ to clients, using the natural environment to facilitate psychological therapy and physical health.

Addictions Counselling is a key area of interest for me and I can offer a comprehensive package of support if you are struggling with any form of addiction. I work to the BACP Code of Ethics for the Counselling Professions and in accordance with this I have regular clinical supervision for all my work.

I deliver coaching to individuals around work-related issues and professional development, having more than 15 years of experience in leadership and management roles in local Government and charities.
